The story.

Suzy, a lonely little girl full of dreams, arrives with her father in the small town of Muscari. They are planning to settle down and open a hardware store where a sweet shop once stood. Intimidated and confused by the eeriness of the place along with all the changes brought into her life, Suzy will soon start to spin this new universe with touches of her imagination. She will meet Milpli, a magic origami that will become her best companion.

The audience.

This film is essentially aimed at a young mixed audience from 4 to 8 years. At this age friendship is really important and essential questions about identity and life are asked. There will be sequences of contemplation and poetry, but also lots of humour caused by Milpli and Globoule, Suzy's cat. Every sensibility will be satisfied!

Visually.

As the pictures illustrate, we aim at a 2D style, with the colored outline and the scenes' silhouettes reminding of the 50s and 60s animation, the exact period in which our story is set. The most appropriate example illustrating this style today would be the final titles from Pixar’s animated feature film "Ratatouille". As the series are a lot about ambience and poetry, special attention will be dedicated to image composition, contrasting areas of light and dark, textures, and so on. Technically, it will involve using 2D and 3D techniques, featuring the use of cell shading and compositing techniques.

In concept.

The film is in concept for now. I am writing the script with Dimitri Vanderheyde. We are supported by La Station Animation and Layers Films, the producers. They are looking for financial investors and trying to find founds to make this dream come true.

If you are interested to join us, we would be very pleased to meet you to discuss about it!
